Finance of the University of Iceland
Vaka fights for increased funding for the University of Iceland. The student movement in collaboration with the University of Iceland has actively fought for increased funding for the University of Iceland and drawn attention to underfunding in various arenas.
We oppose the increase in registration fees
Vaka considers the increase in registration fees at the University of Iceland unacceptable. Vaka also believes it is important to get a breakdown of cost items and justification for each item individually. The increase in registration fees will reduce access to education.
The registration fee goes to the university
Currently, the registration fee at the University of Iceland is 75,000 ISK for each student in the fall. The most surprising thing is that the fee does not all go to the school. It is uninvited. Students should not be responsible for the general revenue collection of the state.
Increased funding for the University of Iceland
The student movement in collaboration with the University of Iceland has actively fought for increased funding for the University of Iceland and drawn attention to underfunding in various arenas. In order to achieve the goals of the current government, it is obvious that funding for the universities needs to be increased so that we stand on an equal footing with other Nordic countries. The work-related diploma program at the Faculty of Education can be taken as an example, and more funding is needed to be able to offer similar programs in other fields.
Funds for students
Vaka wants the increased funds that were allocated to the university in the last budget and funds that are estimated to come in in the coming years to be used with the quality of teaching and student facilities in mind. Vaka will put pressure on the university's administration and see to it that it happens.
